The Sabbatical: Living in Cloud 9

Just 10 days ago, Mandip Rana and I set out on a transformative journey to conquer the heights of Mount Kinabalu—a towering peak at 4,095 meters in the heart of Borneo, Malaysia. We were able to reach to the Base Camp, however our ascent to the summit was cut short at 4am by weather constraints. The experience left an indelible mark on us, teaching valuable lessons about resilience and purpose.

A Trip with a Twist

During our planning, we realized this adventure could be more than just a climb. We decided to start a fundraising campaign, combining our journey with a mission to help others.

Feeling All Sorts of Ways

The climb itself was a mix of feelings—tiredness, excitement, and moments of being amazed. Going up felt like being on Cloud 9, both in our minds and literally, with clouds around us. The journey showed us how life can be full of surprises.

Finding New Purpose

When we came back down, it wasn’t the end of our journey. It was the start of a new way of thinking.

“Living In Cloud 9” now means the joy of making a positive change.

Remembering our trip pushes us to keep trying new things, both in our lives and in making the world better.

Learning from the Trip

The experience taught us that life’s challenges are like big mountains. Sometimes, we might not reach the top, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make a difference. Our journey showed us that aiming high can help not just ourselves but others too, making the world a nicer place
